Global Outsourcing Survey On Disruptive Outsourcing

Have you heard about the latest trend in outsourcing? It is called disruptive outsourcing. This form of outsourcing is fast replacing conventional outsourcing, and it is massively taking a leap forward.

According to a 2018 Global Outsourcing Survey carried out by Deloitte, “Over 500 executives from pioneering organizations point that disruptive outsourcing solutions are primarily transforming traditional outsourcing — led by automation and cloud technology.”

Disruptive Outsourcing: This novel outsourcing-pioneered transformation has the capacity to address not just business challenges, but also information technology (IT) outsourcing. This new phenomenon in outsourcing solution is a total package – it integrates emerging technologies to engineer innovation, achieve enhanced user experience, speed up market entry time, and drive improved performance.

Indeed, disruptive outsourcing promises to be a superb tool for a greater positive change in the sourcing world. Generally, cost-cutting is expected; however, a good number of companies look forward to investing a part of the savings, making budgets within a specific function higher, in order to further move the business forward, especially when such step has the capacity to eliminate costs in other areas of the enterprise.

The Survey

Majority of those who participated in the survey agreed it’s time to adopt a new outsourcing strategy. Right now, their minds are set on how to bring in new solutions, lookout for new partners with the capacity to take them higher, design an incentive regime that can result in continuous innovation, as well as the best way to both implement and manage disruptive outsourcing.

The Resulting Trends

From the outcome of the survey, three major trends emerged as follows;

  • Outsourcing has increased its pace in influencing competitive advantage. No doubts, cost savings or cost optimization has not stopped being one of the main reasons for outsourcing, but it is no longer topping the list of these reasons — in fact, it is not even in the top 3 list.
  • The reason is that disruptive outsourcing has the capacity to result in competitive advantage when carried out strategically, by re-engineering how organizations operate and making them increasingly agile, effective, as well as efficient.
  • Respondents of the survey can clearly see the advantages. More than 80 percent of the respondents have done one of the following —- conducted pilots, initiated discussions, or has adopted one or two forms of disruptive solutions.
  • Companies are laying hold of disruptive outsourcing technologies. Typical examples of such technologies include RPA — Robotic Process Automation and Cloud. More than 90 percent of the respondents are either thinking of using cloud solutions, or they are using cloud solutions already.

In a similar manner, more than 70 percent are already using RPA solutions or considering it. And, they believe that these technological solutions have the capacity to both implement and optimize disruptive outsourcing.
