Do Not Neglect the Mental Health of Your Team During These Trying Times Learn How

In normal times, the mental health of employees though important is usually not a major concern for a business or company. But right now, with all the crazy things going on because of the pandemic, the mental health of employees has become a top priority.

And, you should bear in mind that all eyes are on the lookout to judge companies based on how well or otherwise they treated their employees during the crazy times. More than ever before, employees need mental health care and support from their companies.

Different Studies Show that Covid-19 Has Taken a Toll on Employees’ Mental Health

One such study was commissioned by LinkedIn. The study revealed an insight regarding remote workers’ current working conditions resulting from the pandemic. According to the research, 56 percent of remote employees showed more feeling of anxiety and stress than when everything was normal. And, 38 percent of those interviewed are working additional 38 hours on average per month.

Some of the factors adding to the pressures of remote workers include managing home activities/kids with work. Also, as more people are being laid off, many remote workers fear they may eventually lose their job because of the uncertain economic times. Employees who lost their loved ones to the virus or have their loved ones fighting for their lives in ICUs will have a hard time focusing on work. So, their mental health is being pressured on every side.

Take Advantage of Mental Health Consulting to Take Care of the Mental Health Needs of Your Remote Employees

The recent crisis has necessitated prioritizing the mental health of employees. Again, how you respond to your employees when they needed your support most will be a major yardstick of how your company will be judged in this period and beyond. Employees are going through a lot as pointed out earlier. So, employers should not focus solely on what they want employees to do for them, but also what they should do for their employees.

You don’t have to offer direct support by playing the role of a counselor to your remote workers. Even if you have the talent, the task will definitely wear you out and take your attention off the core tasks. Be like other companies and outsource mental health consulting to a professional. You should link your employees to online mental health resources. Consequently, they can consult the expert when they need mental health help.

Don’t forget that only a physically and mentally sound person can be productive. Therefore, it is mutually beneficial to pay attention to the mental health of your remote workers, especially while the pandemic lasts.
